If you are planning on doing some sightseeing in Oslo, I recommend you buy the Oslo Card. The price is not bad at all (surprisingly), and public transport (ferries, buses, trains, trams; that alone costs over 60 NOK - $10 - for 24 hours) is included, as well as the entrance fees to all the major sights and museums. If you're only going to 2-3 museums and will be using public transport for more than 3 trips, you get good value for money. See VisitOslo.com  for more info on all sights and activities in Oslo and how to get there. Also check out the travel planner in Oslo, trafikanten.no (click on the British flag on the bottom left side of the page for information in English), which helps you find the right bus/tram/ferry to where you want to go.

Norwegian sea food at Aker Brygge

If you're looking for the culinaric highlights of the world, you've come to the wrong place. Norwegian food is (according to experts and foreigners) boring and tasteless. But in summertime, you can enjoy lots of fish dishes at Aker Brygge, near City hall, like salmon in all varieties, local mussels in white wine or freshly boiled shrimps that you peel yourself and eat with white bread and lemon.

A little expensive, but you can also buy some fresh shrimps off the shrimping boats at the harbour (maybe from this guy) and eat in the park, just ask the shrimp seller how to peel them!

You can also visit Kaffistova to try some of the traditional Norwegian meat specialties like raindeer or moose.

There are often a few tall ships docking and plenty of restaurants and benches where you can enjoy some people/bird watching

There are fishing opportunities at Aker Brygge, but the water in the area is not too clean, and I wouldn't recommend eating the fish you catch here
